I’m in love with all of the ombré I’ve been seeing lately, so I decided to incorporate it into my February calendar.
I started at Michaels, where I spent way too long picking out 8 colors of open stock paper. I thought about using something a little unconventional for February, like blues or greens, but in the end, I went with pinks and reds. Go figure.

I knew I wanted to have lots of hearts, but I wasn’t sure how I would use them.

So I thought about it. And then I thought about it some more. Eventually, an idea came to me, and I decided to give it a try.
First, I printed out a February calendar onto plain white cardstock and I added little gray lines to help me with placement.

Then I used my Silhouette to cut out some hearts.

I cut each one with a dashed line down the center to make it easier to fold them in half.

One at a time, I held the folded hearts with tweezers, swiped the edge in glue, and placed them down onto one of the gray lines. Easy peasy.

And this is how it turned out.

Before putting it in the frame, I removed the glass so the hearts could stand up. The kids keep wanting to touch it when they walk by. I do too.

It looks like a lot of work, but it wasn’t really. The hardest part was coming up with the design. Once I had that, I was able to put it together in about 20 minutes.
I think I have a serious crush on this calendar.

Can you tell I had fun taking pictures of it? It’s very photogenic, don’t you think?

The hearts make me think of little butterflies getting ready to take off.

Wanna make one? We could be matching calendar buddies. 🙂

You can download a PDF of the background here, and the Silhouette cutting file here. If you don’t have a Silhouette, I also made a PDF of the hearts that you could just print directly onto colored cardstock and then cut out. You can download it here.

As always, thanks for stopping by!
