The Etsy listing read “The perfect authentic French provincial piece for a table centerpiece or in the kitchen. Looks stunning filled with roses, citrus foliage, cherry blossom branches or whatever you fancy. A classic enamel water pitcher from France in a lovely (and rare) speckled blue and white color from 1930′s.” It was love at first sight.
It arrived safely from France lovingly wrapped in an old heather blue wool sweater. The sweater was full of holes and I had a good laugh at the seller’s ingenuity. It was a very clever choice for safely shipping the pitcher to me from France .
Roses are so versatile, beautiful when they are fresh cut and just as lovely dried. I dried these roses last winter by hanging them upside down from the mini chandelier in my old office.
You will hear more about these two Big Ben wind-up clocks in future post about a new way I’ve been thrifting.
Pitiful I know, but these hydrangeas purchased from the grocery store wilted overnight. Believe me, they were beautiful when I arranged them. The floral manager and I think we figured out what caused them to wilt so quickly. It was a joint effort, they were not properly prepared at the store and I failed to recognize the problem when I arranged them. The store graciously refunded my money.
Queen Anne’s Lace is blooming profusely all along the roads here in Georgia. So my grandson and I went looking for a safe place to park the car and pick some. We found quiet road near my house and picked a nice bouquet. He thought it was a great adventure.
Quite by accident I found a thrifty but lovely substitute for a French Water Pitcher at Ikea. There you can find a beautiful ivory colored enamel water pitcher for less than $20. Isn’t gorgeous with a couple of bunches of French lavender tucked inside?
